Meet your guide, then board the ferry to Gia Luan port and enjoy the stunning scenery as you sail to Cat Ba Island. Visit Hospital Cave, a secret, bomb-proof hospital and safe house constructed during the American War. Trek beautiful Cat Ba National Park, home to one of the world’s most endangered primates. Enjoy an authentic Vietnamese lunch before heading to the beach nearby for a swim, weather permitting. Continue on to Cannon Fort for one of the best views in Vietnam and an interesting slice of military history. Find out how fish sauce (nuoc mam) is made with a tour of a nuoc mam factory, including tasting. Drive back to Gia Luan and board the ferry to return to Paradise Suites Hotel.

|09:00 - 10:00||Meet your driver for the day. Visit Hospital Cave, built between 1963 and 1965 as the American War was escalating, served as a bomb-proof hospital and safe house. You’ll see the operating theatre, the swimming pool and the natural cavern that was used as a cinema.|

Your tour guide will take you to Cat Ba National Park, where you can spend a couple of hours trekking. Trails are well marked and cater for hikers of all fitness levels. The area is rich in bio-diversity and home to the world’s remaining 65 golden-headed langur - one of the most endangered primate species in the world.
Travel to centre of Cat Ba Island, where you will enjoy an authenticVietnamese lunch. Your tour guide will explain the etiquette involved with eating different dishes, and tell you about the intricacies of Vietnamese table manners.
Head to the beach for some rest and relaxation after your lunch. Weather permitting, you might even like to go for a swim in the emerald ocean.
Continue on to Cannon Fort for a panoramic view of Cat Ba Island. If you are not comfortable with the steep walk, your tour guide will organise a xe om (motorcycle taxi) for you. Paths lead to underground tunnels and gun emplacements, which were built by the Japanese in WWII.
Fish sauce (nuoc mam) is an essential ingredient in Vietnamese cooking, and is also used as a condiment. Find out how nuoc mam is made with this factory tour. You’ll be able to taste nuoc mam and learn how to tell if fish sauce is good quality. You can even buy a bottle or two for your kitchen.
